The Barge Breakaway Seminar
The seminar will contain presentations from the Army Corp of Engineers, US Coast Guard, National Weather and other industry experts. The material covered in this seminar is designed for on-site managerial personnel, employees responsible for shoreside fleet integrity and security as well as deckhands securing barges in fleets. Topics to be addressed will include proper fleet management, review of the waterways action plan, past incidents and lessons learned and maritime law.

Time: Registration: 8 a.m. (Continental breakfast will be provided)
Seminar: 8:15 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Lunch will be provided)
Immediately following lunch:
Hands-on practicum – Barge Handling & Deck Safety at landing
Safety Equipment Required: Life Vests
Location: Floreffe Fire Hall on Old Highway 837, Floreffe, PA (Classroom)
West Elizabeth Landing/Water Exercise (Hands-On)
Directions: 1540 State Street, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025
Route 51 to W. Elizabeth Exit onto Rt. 837S. Follow Route 837S approximately 2 miles. At first red light, make right onto Walton Road. 1/8 mile make left at Floreffe Hotel. Fire hall will be on left.
